Resistors in series
In a series circuit, the equivalent resistance is obtained by summing all the individual resistances. This page contains two examples of simple electric networks; they only contain resistors which are wired in series. The formulas for the equivalent resistances are given.

As you have seen, this is quite easy. Obtaining the equivalent resistance of a parallel circuit is a little more complicated.
